Un peu dans le style de celui du 350Z mais plus "bulleux"

So today I roll in and here's this big, square package and I can't remember what I was expecting. Man... This car really messes your action up.
Opening the thing, I see that the contents are actually rectangular - oh yeah! The tonneau covers! I know some of you were curious to see these, so here we go:
First, you can see that, while the Spyder has a great soft top, there are unsightly gaps to the right and left when folded in the "down" position:
You fix it with a pair of these deals, available from Japanparts for a cool 268,000 yen ($250, approx). I could never figure out why these damn things were so expensive - thanks to dcox for putting a set up for sale.
Well, let's flip it over and see what's going on:
As you can see, it's kind of like a bat's wing - there's a zipper across the top, the fabric is the same as the soft top, and there's a hinged hook on one side, and a number of brackets along the edges. You can feel that there's a frame inside... it's a very complex part. Hence, not cheap. Let's put it on:
You fit the hook over that little barrel-shaped piece, and this is what secures it, mostly. The other tabs and brackets fit either above or below, and when you slide it a bit to the side, it snaps in clean and solid. It won't fly off, even at triple-digit speeds.
Here's the look with both installed:
Notice that the covers are so well made that they follow the exact contours of the folded top - they are not flat, rather, they have bends and angles in them such that they mate with the top perfectly. Both will stow in the rear bins or behind the seats, in the event you encounter inclement weather. Although I could never justify buying these new, given the frightful cost, now that I see what they are, I think the retail price isn't that bad. The assistant gives these two thumbs up.
